My Story

Hi! I’m Eshan — a junior UX and interaction designer based in Vancouver.

I recently graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a minor in Psychology. My academic journey challenged me in ways that strengthened my resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving skills — especially while navigating rigorous coursework and the broader disruptions of the pandemic.

During the final phase of my degree, I began exploring how I wanted to apply my analytical and behavioral understanding in a more human-centered way. That’s when I discovered UX design. It immediately resonated with me — blending structured thinking with empathy and real-world impact — and it felt like a natural evolution of both my academic background and personal interests.

What drew me to UX was how clearly it blended things I already cared about: understanding how people think, structuring information in a logical way, and making complex things feel easier to use. With my background in psychology, the human side of UX felt familiar, while my physics background shaped how I approach problems analytically and systematically. After graduating, I decided to give UX an honest shot and fully commit to learning the craft.

At the end of 2025, I completed the Google UX Design Professional Certificate, which gave me hands-on experience with the full design process — from research and problem framing to wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing. Since then, I’ve built two portfolio projects: a mobile app focused on helping gamers compare accessories with confidence, and a responsive website designed to help Metro Vancouver residents navigate food and housing resources more easily. Both projects reflect my interest in interaction design, clarity, and supporting people through moments of decision-making.

From Uni to UX

As a designer, I care deeply about creating experiences that feel calm, clear, and respectful of the user’s time and mental load. I’m especially drawn to designing for situations where users may feel overwhelmed, uncertain, or under pressure — and helping them understand their options without feeling rushed or confused. I tend to value clarity over cleverness and believe good design should quietly guide people rather than demand attention.

I primarily work in Figma and am comfortable creating wireframes, prototypes, and structured layouts using components and auto layout. I also built this portfolio using Squarespace, which gave me hands-on experience designing within real-world constraints rather than purely conceptual screens. I occasionally use tools like Photoshop and AI to support visual exploration and ideation.

Mindset as a Designer

Outside of UX, I love football (soccer), music, and spending time with friends and family. People who know me often describe me as thoughtful, empathetic, detail-oriented, and easy to work with — qualities that naturally shape how I approach both design and collaboration.

I’m currently looking for junior or entry-level UX / UI design roles where I can continue learning, contribute meaningfully, and grow within a supportive team.

If you’d like to chat about my work or connect, I’d love to hear from you :)
